Anchor distributing was started in 1971 by a gentleman by the name of Joe Ryan. Joe would literally drive his pickup truck to Chicago where he would pick up pneumatic staples from Spotnails and distribute them throughout the Twin Cities from his garage. In 1987 the company was purchased by Jerry Hahn. Jerry created a niche in the Twin Cities marketplace by being a pioneer in importing private labeled pneumatic nails and staples. Matt Hohmann purchased the company in 2015, after working for the company for nine years and serving as the CEO for seven years.
Today the company has three locations. The company headquarters are located in a 50,000 sqft. facility in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, with branch locations in Fargo, North Dakota and Des Moines, Iowa. Anchor has become a leader in distributing construction related products to lumberyard chains, large builders, and industrial supply houses as well as to numerous e-commerce sites.
As a stocking distributor for almost all the products represented, Anchor currently manages over 80,000 skus for over 50 different manufacturers. All a manufacturer needs to do is set Anchor up as a distributor of their products and Anchor will take care of everything else.
Anchor has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into the latest technologies such as EDI, warehouse management systems, a true distribution based ERP solution, RF technology and efficient re-pack processes. Every order that goes through our warehouse is scanned a minimum of four times.
